MANU JUNGLE INN LODGE
4 Days/3 Nights Program
(DEPARTURE EVERY MONDAY OF THE YEAR)
1st
Day
Rising
at dawn, our representative will pick up the passengers up from the hotel
in Cusco to transfer them to the airport to board their 35 minutes flight
to Boca Manu. Next, we will board a boat for a 90 minutes journey down the
Madre de Dios river to Manu jungle Inn where a great lunch will be
awaiting for us.
Then, we will explore some of the forest trails that surround the lodge.
After dinner at any moment we have the chance to see some of the 12
species of monkeys like the Saki monkey and the Emperor Tamarin. After
dinner we prepare to visit the Tapir clay lick. It is located one hour
away from the lodge. There, from our specially prepared platform above the
clay lick, we can observe all these creatures that come to eat clay.
2nd
Day
We
wake up before dawn to go to the only accessible Macaw and Parrot clay
lick in the Manu area. This journey takes 25 minutes.
From a floating hiding place, we can appreciate and take some pictures of
hundreds of medium-large parrots, and the large blazing red - green Macaws
that arrive to eat in the clay lick. During May, June and July there are
less activity than in August and September.
In the afternoon, we will visit the two oxbow lakes located in the area.
3rd
Day
Rising
at dawn, we explore the forest trails with the emphasis of visiting the
fruiting trees. The native guides and our biologists will be there to help
us. You will see in this area more monkey species as well as many birds.
It is also possible to visit one of the lakes before exploring forest
trails.
After lunch we explore other forest trail trying to find more birds
species and mammals. After dinner you have the option to visit the Tapir
